"Wherever the art of medicine is loved, there is also a love of humanity." - Hippocrates
March 30, 1842: Dr. Crawford Long performed the first surgery in which ether was used to anesthetize a patient and remove a tumor on his neck, changing the way we treat and manage our patients. Nearly a century later, Eudora Almond, wife of Dr. Charles Almond, selected March 30 as Doctors Day. This date was established to recognize physicians, their work and contributions to society and the community. The holiday was first observed on March 30, 1933, with the event including cards and flowers given to physicians and their wives. In 1990, President George Bush signed a law designating Doctors Day as a national holiday to be celebrated on March 30th. 🙏🏼 On National Doctors Day, we say “thank you” to our physicians for all that they do for us and our communities.
