š¦ Dengue, also known as break bone fever, is a mosquito-borne viral infection and is spread to people through the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito. ā£

ā³ Symptoms
Dengue usually begin 4-7 days following initial infectionā£
š¤ Mild symptoms:ā£
šø Headacheā£
šø Feverā£
šø Fatigueā£
šø Nauseaā£
šø Muscle, bone and joint painā£
ā£
𤮠Severe symptoms:ā£
š» Abdominal painā£
š» Vomitingā£
š» Bleeding gums and noseā£
š» Blood in the urineā£
š» Rapid breathingā£
š» Skin rash (red spots)ā£
ā£
ā¼ A small percentage of people can develop a more serious form of the disease known as Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever. This can trigger excessive shock, bleeding and even death. ā£
ā£
š Treatment:ā£
š¹ Currently there is only one new dengue vaccine approved for use commercially in children aged 9-16 years with previous confirmed dengue infection in the area
š¹ Medication can be given for pain and feverā£
š¹ Stay hydrated and bed restā£
ā£
š Prevention:ā£
š¹ Apply mosquito repellentā£
š¹ Stay in air conditioned or well screened housingā£
š¹ Wear protective clothing over arms and legs when in mosquito areasā£
š¹ Reduce water collection where mosquitoes and grow (pet dishes, auto tires, and flower pots)ā£
